Spring weather

Today it was like spring. It got up to about 60 degrees. I split some wood, pruned a little from the apple tree and did the winter pruning of the grapes. They should have a good year next year.

Presents....presents... presents

Well... all the presents are open. Lots of clothes, books, etc. Shelly gave us enough pans/pots/dishes to redo Mom's cupboard. The girls also helped to box up the old things. Even Christie doesn't want them for college.

Transmission is gone

Well.... our machanic confirmed my suspession that the transmission on the green Taurus is "toast". I couldn't even get it into reverse while at the shop. Now the question is whether to junk it or put a new transmission in. We probably won't until we pay off our comsumer debt. We'll see.

Christmas Choirs

We came back yesterday from the Treasure Valley Children's Choir Christmas Concert in Nampa. They held it in Nampa at the NNU auditorium because it is bigger than the one in Ontario. Hannah is in the Avanced Choir and Tia and Christie are in the Concert and Premier Choirs. Christie and friends were gone all day on a Sadie Hawkins Dance so she got back home late.

wood pile

I tried out the chainsaw on the wood pile. I was able to cut up about 5 to 6 long pine tree blocks and then split them. More for tomorrow.

Chainsaw is sharp

I just got my chainsaw back from the shop. I have a whole pile of wood left over from when the power company cut down 2 pine trees in our back yard. I was able to cut some in smaller pieces. Hopefully I will be able to lose some pounds working on the woodpile.

Pond did not freeze

We just got back from Utah. About an hour before we left on Friday, I was able to get the floating ice melter set up for the pond. Ron Olsen had helped me run some electricity out to the pond but I had to put in the box, plug in's, etc. Fortunately it worked and there was a nice hole in the ice under the heater. I hope the fish appreciate it.

Pond is frozen

Along with the snow and freezing weather, the ponds are freezing everynight. I break up the ice carefully so the shock waves don't kill the fish. I did buy a pond ice melter so I won't have to break the ice. Vurvian managed to put Christmas lights on the roof of our house with breaking herself or the house. I passed on the light.
